Hi, I’m Kate Calamatta. I have 2 gorgeous boys who were born in
2005 and 2007. I decided to train as a Doula soon after the birth of
my second son. My own personal experiences made me realise how much
potential the female body has to birth a baby in a positive and rewarding
way. I trained with Nurturing Birth in 2008. I am a member of the National
Childbirth Trust (NCT), Doula UK, and DONA International.
I am based in York, UK.
I feel very passionately that each and every family should be allowed
the opportunity to have a positive birth experience, no matter whether
it takes place in a hospital or at home. I feel the labouring mother
needs to be cherished and protected. I also feel that the role of the
partner or husband of the labouring woman is crucial. I can guide them
in how best to help their loved one and ultimately I aim to reduce the
pressure that is put upon them.
